BMC’s charity and fundraising commitment

Here at BMC we feel charity and fundraising activity in the local community and beyond can be a great way to enrich both staff and students, bringing people together in weird and wonderful ways, often with amazing results:

Leanne’s memorial bench

This year saw an amazing fundraising tribute for BMC student Leanne McCann who sadly died from cancer, friends and family arranged a range of charity events and a memorial bench which now sits on campus in Melton. Over £4000 has been raised for the Clic Sargent charity with auctions, sponsored challenges and fancy dress parties all contributing to the cause.

First Diploma Animal Care groups have been working hard to collect dog food and cat food across campus and within the local community to help local hedgehog rescue groups. Specially designed boxes have been placed around college for the kindly donated tins.

Other selected charities which students have been working hard to support include:

Pabloe’s Horse Sanctuary, Redgate Animal Sanctuary, Leicestershire Wildlife Hospital and Leicester Animal Aid. Activities include collecting on market days in town, selling cakes and sweets and getting as many donations from the public as possible.

Pudsey

BMC was also proud to make an important contribution for this year’s BBC children in need, collections took place across all campuses with brilliant results, including the design of a very special Pudsey.

Romy Trust

Students studying Childcare and Early Years at BMC helped to boost the profile of the Romy Trust, a charity in memory of Romany Fugill, of Asfordby Valley, who died from neuroblastoma, a rare form of cancer four years ago. Fundraising activity included random raffles, name the teddy and guess the sweets in the jar challenges.
