The Foundation Degree in Animal Management
and Welfare is proving to be very popular. It is being run at the
Brooksby Campus in conjunction with the University of Lincoln.The Foundation Degree is a new vocational, degree level qualification designed with employers to fit perfectly into the world of work. The Foundation Degree at Brooksby Melton College is full time and takes two years to complete.
With your Foundation Degree you have the option to do an additional year to top-up the qualification to a Full Honours Degree.
The course is designed to meet the needs of students looking for practical skills and knowledge in the management of companion, zoo, farm, wild and laboratory animals. The course covers the fundamentals of animal science and husbandry, as well as having a strong emphasis on the fields of welfare and rehabilitation in relation to an animal's quality of life.
Graduates of this degree may typically find employment in areas such as management of zoos, farms or laboratories, education, welfare organisations, marketing or animal protection (DEFRA, RSPCA).

The course has a wide variety of interesting modules, including:
• Animal Learning and Training
• Veterinary Microbiology
• Conservation Biology
• Animal Rehabilitation
• Wildlife Management
The course also offers practical industry experience.

Entry Requirements
Students undertaking a Foundation Degree come from a range of backgrounds, from A-Levels and vocational qualifications (such as National Diplomas) to mature students with relevant experience.
Typical entry requirements are 120 points, but consideration will be given for mature students with relevant industry experience. All individuals will be considered upon application.
