BMC Students get the Royal Seal of Approval

HRH, The Queen, was joined by HRH, The Duke of Edinburgh and for the first time HRH the Duchess of Cambridge as they attended a luncheon on the 8th March, with the Bishop of Leicester and many other dignitaries.

Two BMC Students undertook intense silver service training and were lucky enough to be chosen to work at the event, as Silver Service waiting staff. But the news just got better, when Georgea Pearson - who works at Brooksby Hall and Lynsey Bell – a work based student at the college were selected to serve HRH The Queen and HRH The Duke of Edinburgh.

Georgea told us, “When I found out that I was going to have the honour of serving the Queen, it was so exciting. It was a real test of the nerves, the extra training we recieved has been really informative and has given me new insight into Silver Service, it has definitely improved my skills. I was so scared of spilling something, but just did my best and it all went well."

An equally excited Lynsey, who works at the Belmont Hotel in Lecester, while being trained on the job by BMC, said; “I was also so excited, it is a once in a lifetime opportunity. When I found out I was serving HRH Duke of Edinburgh, I was speechless. It was great to see the Queen in person.”

Lead Training Officer, June Norris who has worked with both the girls said: “They are a real credit to both BMC and Brooksby Hall. Though they were nervous about the event, I knew that they would be fine on the day. They both are lovely girls and will go far in the industry.”
