Why do I still need to study online?
It is very important you continue to complete the work set for you by your tutors through Moodle. This is to ensure you learn the required modules of your course and build up as much evidence as possible to support your achievement and grade.

How will my grade be decided?
The college is working to obtain clear information about how qualifications will be awarded now that examinations will not go ahead in the summer term. We work with a large number of awarding bodies and once the process for each qualification becomes clear we will communicate with students on a course-by-course basis to update them.

Ofqual have released a letter for GCSE students (03/04/2020).

Will I still be able to progress onto the second year of my course if I can’t complete the required work experience?
We are currently working on alternative methods for students to undertake the required work experience. Once we have more information on this, we will contact all affected students.

Do I still have to pay for College Accommodation?
Accommodation fees were only incurred up to and including Friday 20th March – the last day the College was officially open. If you feel you are due a refund or have any concerns, please contact finance@brooksbymelton.ac.uk

Do I still have to pay for College Transport?
No more payments will be taken for Transport costs. Please cancel your Direct Debit with your bank to be sure.

What should I do if I have a Safeguarding concern?
While the College is now operating in a very different manner, the majority of our students are now being educated remotely and Safeguarding remains a key priority. If you have a Safeguarding concern regarding one of our students, please contact: studentservices@brooksbymelton.ac.uk

I’ve applied for a course – what happens now?
Our Admissions and Academic teams are working from home, so your application will be processed as soon as possible:

  1. You will receive an email to confirm an interview date and time. For your interview, a tutor will call you from an ‘Unknown number’, so please be sure to be available at the specified time. Some courses may require you to submit extra evidence to support your application, but this will be explained in your email and during the interview.
  2. If your interview is successful, you will be emailed your Offer letter.
  3.  If you’re happy with the Offer, you can then reply to Accept.
  4. Enrolment is planned to take place in September where you will officially join BMC!

I have an interviewed scheduled – will this still happen?
Yes, but it will now take place over the phone at the date and time specified previously. A tutor will call you from an ‘Unknown number’, so please be sure to be available at the specified time.

I’ve been offered a place – what happens if I don’t achieve my predicted grades?
We would like to reassure all our Offer holders that we will honour all Offers already made. If the grades awarded to you don’t meet the entry criteria, we will follow our standard procedure and discuss each learner’s requirements on an individual basis.
Our students are our top priority and during these exceptional circumstances, we continue to endeavour to do all that we can for you to join us at BMC.

Ofqual have released a letter for GCSE students (03/04/2020).

I’ve been offered a place – what happens if I can’t complete the required work experience?
