The Minister of State for Universities, Michelle Donelan, MP, has issued a message for all HE students. You can read this message here.

 

Will I still get my degree?
Yes! The college is working to obtain clear information about how qualifications will be awarded now that examinations will not go ahead in the summer term. We are working closely with the University of East Anglia and the University of Bolton, and once the process for each qualification becomes clear, we will communicate with students to update them.

How do I apply to progress to the BSc/BA Top-Up?
You must do this through UCAS, following a similar process to when you applied for your Foundation Degree: Visit UCAS

Will we still have a Graduation Ceremony?
Yes! Currently, we hope that the Graduation Ceremony for 2020 will take place on Thursday 12th November at Brooksby Hall. More information will be released nearer the time.

Do I still have to pay for Accommodation?
Accommodation fees were only incurred up to and including Friday 20th March – the last day the College was officially open. If you feel you are due a refund or have any concerns, please contact finance@brooksbymelton.ac.uk

Do I still have to pay for Transport?
No more payments will be taken for Transport costs. Please cancel your Direct Debit with your bank to be sure.

What should I do if I have a Safeguarding concern?
While the College is now operating in a very different manner, the majority of our students are now being educated remotely and Safeguarding remains a key priority. If you have a Safeguarding concern regarding one of our students, please contact: studentservices@brooksbymelton.ac.uk

I have applied through UCAS to study at BMC – how am I affected?
We are working closely with UCAS and the OfS to ensure our future HE students UCAS has given prospective higher education students an extra two weeks to make a decision about their future place of study, also giving colleges more time to adjust their processes in what are highly unusual times. All students will receive an email from UCAS this week with the new May deadline.

I’ve been offered a place – what happens if I don’t achieve my predicted grades?
We would like to reassure all our Offer holders that we will honour all Offers already made. If the grades awarded to him don’t meet the entry criteria, we will follow our standard procedure and discuss each learner’s requirements on an individual basis.
Our students are our top priority and during these exceptional circumstances, we continue to endeavour to do all that we can for him to join us at BMC.

Ofqual have released a letter for A-Level students (03/04/2020).

I’ve been offered a place – what happens if I can’t complete the required work experience?
Please don’t worry! We are currently working on alternative methods for students to undertake the required work experience. Once we have more information on this, we will contact all affected applicants.

Will I still be able to attend an Open Event?
We hope to resume our Open Events as soon as possible. However, this will be determined by Government Guidance and therefore we have no way of knowing when this will be possible. If you would like to know more about a course, please book a call with one of our tutors here.

Can I still book transport for when I join?
If you have been offered a place, please contact transport@brooksbymelton.ac.uk to arrange your Transport for the next academic year. Routes do fill up, so please contact the team as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

Can I still book accommodation for when I join?
If you have been offered a place, please contact accommodation@brooksbymelton.ac.uk to arrange your Accommodation at our Brooksby Campus for the next academic year. The accommodation does fill up, so please contact the team as soon as possible.
