Specialist independent college Brooksby Melton College has retained its ‘Good’ status in the most recent Ofsted inspection, which was carried out last month.
BMC continues to improve its fantastic service for the benefit of its students, and has recently implemented a range of exciting developments. Firstly, they opened their doors to the brand new £27.7 million redevelopment in September 2015, then in 2016 they were ranked top in the region for 16-18 year old Level 3 achievement rates, and third nationally*, and now they have successfully completed their latest Ofsted Inspection with excellent results.
BMC is a leading provider of Further and Higher Education, with two campuses in the heart of Leicestershire. The specialist Land-Based Campus is based on the beautiful 850 acre Brooksby estate, and the Creative and Services Industries Campus is in the centre of Melton Mowbray. All BMC students benefit from state-of-the-art facilities, industry-expert lecturers, and excellent industry links. In addition, all courses at BMC have a strong employability focus, giving students everything that they need to enter into a successful and rewarding career in their chosen field. In addition, BMC operates a dedicated subsidised bus service, making it even easier for students to access their chosen course.
Ofsted inspect and regulate services that provide education and skills to learners of all ages, with the goal of achieving excellence. Ofsted Reports are published at www.reports.ofsted.gov.uk, meaning that potential students can do some really valuable research and make an informed choice in terms of where they want to study.
In the recent inspection, Ofsted stated that BMC has instilled in staff and students ‘a collaborative ethos and high expectations that place the nurturing of students’ employability and life chances at its centre.
The completion in September 2015 of a new state-of-the art campus at the Melton site and professional sports and land-based learning facilities at Brooksby provides an excellent high-quality learning environment.’
The report further states that BMC has ‘maintained their good relationships with local and regional employers, and they continue to use these effectively to ensure that students and apprentices receive teaching and training that are relevant to the industry they wish to enter’.
Ofsted also stated that ‘lessons at both campuses are lively, engaging and vocationally relevant. The college provides a welcoming and safe learning environment, including for those who have high needs, who have integrated well with their peers. Students’ behaviour in class and in communal areas of the college is exemplary.’
BMC Principal, Chris Ball said: ‘I am delighted that BMC has again received a ‘Good’ grading as a result of the recent Ofsted inspection. It is fantastic that both students and parents report high levels of satisfaction with the provision offered here at BMC, with the majority of students on 16-19 programmes progressing onto higher education programmes, training, or employment. I am immensely proud of our dedicated students and staff for being committed to continuous improvement at the College, and I am certain that the next year holds many more successes for the BMC as a whole’.
