This course is designed to offer an industry-standard Beauty Therapy qualification. Students will have the opportunity to develop practical skills in a number of different beauty treatments, participate in competitions, and work in an industry-standard environment in our brand new Reflections salon.

Your future

Previous BMC students have progressed onto Higher Education courses at Levels 4 and 5. Alternatively, students have progressed into employment at local health salons and spas, Ragdale Hall, and on cruise ships travelling around the world.

Entry requirements

5 GCSEs at Grade C/4 or above including English and Level 2 Beauty Therapy.

Learners are able to put all of these treatments into practice in our commercial Reflections salon, and will have the opportunity to take responsibility for the day-to-day running of salon and reception.

Students are able to get involved in several enrichment activities throughout the year, including attending workshops at Ragdale Hall, spray tan and ear piercing training, visiting  trade shows, and visiting The Clothes Show in Birmingham.

Learners also benefit from guest speakers from Sterex and Steiner and other industry experts, helping to broaden their knowledge of the industry. This also helps students to understand  the range of possible progression pathways available to them. Students will also have the opportunity to compete in both in-house and national competitions to showcase their skills and talents.

Students also have the opportunity to undertake an additional qualifications in Emergency First Aid and Customer Service. These short qualifications give our students a wider range of salon-relevant skills, thereby increasing their employability.

Level 3 students also have the opportunity to undertake an industry-standard qualification in First Aid.

Enrichment Activities

  • BMC has great relationships with local spas and beauty salons, in particular Ragdale Hall, where students can attend workshops during their study.

  • Attendance of trade shows such as Hair and Beauty UK and Salon International.
  • Talks from industry specialists to enhance learning.
  • Opportunities to take part in national and in-house competitions to showcase your skills.

English and Maths

English and Maths are very important for you during your studies and beyond. The Government has introduced new standards which mean that employers will looking for these skills when you enter the workplace. BMC is committed to ensuring that our students leave us with everything they need to reach their goals and meet the expectations of the industry.

If you are under 19 and narrowly miss the English and/or Maths requirements of your course (by one grade), don’t worry – BMC can offer you a suitable course at another level and you can take GCSE English or Maths alongside it (daytime and evening options available). Learners will not be expected to take both GCSE English and GCSE Maths in the same year.

If you are under 19 and miss the English and/or Maths entry requirements of your course by more than one grade, BMC offers Functional Skills, an effective method to improve literacy and numeracy, for up to two hours per week.
