5 GCSE’s at Grade C/4 or above AND Level 2 Hair and Media Make-up. Adults are welcome to apply.
Promotion is an important part of this qualification, in addition to client care, detailed consultation, and health and safety. To maximise the skills of our Level 3 students they are required to complete some relevant work experience in our brand new commercial Reflections salon, or elsewhere.
It is important that students gain as many employability skills as possible to prepare them for entering the world of work. Here at BMC we offer an excellent enrichment programme which includes opportunities to attend talks from visiting guest speakers and trainers from the industry. Students are also able to attend The Clothes Show and a number of trade shows throughout the year (some additional charges will apply).
BMC Hair and Media Make-Up students are also able to benefit from working alongside our Film and TV Production and Performing Arts departments. This gives students numerous opportunities to do the hair and make-up of cast members for a number of productions, boosting their assessment opportunities and broadening their experience, communication, and creative skills.

English and Maths
English and Maths are very important for you during your studies and beyond. The Government has introduced new standards which mean that employers will be looking for these skills when you enter the workplace. BMC is committed to ensuring that our students leave us with everything they need to reach their goals and meet the expectations of the industry.
If you are under 19 and narrowly miss the English and/or Maths requirements of your course, don’t worry – BMC can offer you a suitable course at another level and you can take GCSE English or Maths alongside it. Learners will not be expected to take both GCSE English and GCSE Maths in the same year.
If you are under 19 and miss the English and/or Maths entry requirements of your course by more than one grade, BMC offers Functional Skills, an effective method to improve literacy and numeracy, for up to two hours per week.
